  1. Complete an Intake Form
    Before your session, you’ll receive an intake form to provide some background about yourself and what brings you to Reiki. This form also allows you to share any specific requirements, such as mobility needs, so the Practitioner can make accommodations to ensure your comfort.
  2. Session Duration
    Reiki sessions typically last about an hour, though the exact time may vary depending on your individual needs. Your Practitioner will tailor the session to your unique requirements.
  3. What to Wear
    You’ll remain fully clothed during the session, so it’s best to wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows you to fully relax.
  4. Reiki Setup
    Most sessions take place on a Reiki table, where you can lie down on soft blankets and pillows to enhance your comfort. If mobility issues make lying down difficult, the session can easily be conducted in a comfortable chair.
  5. The Atmosphere
    Your Reiki session is a time for you to unwind and recharge—a safe space away from the stresses of daily life. To create a calming environment, the Practitioner may incorporate soothing music, candles, aromatherapy, and healing crystals, making the space feel like a healing oasis.

During your Reiki session, the Practitioner will guide you into a state of relaxation and work to balance your energy. Here's what you can expect:


  1. Getting Started
    You’ll be invited to close your eyes and relax while the Practitioner positions themselves beside the Reiki table. They will create a calm, soothing environment to help you unwind.
  2. Hand Positions and Energy Work
    The Practitioner will use a series of Reiki hand positions to focus on your body's main energy centers, known as chakras. Depending on your preference, their hands may either lightly rest on your body or hover just above it. Before the session begins, the Practitioner will ask whether you are comfortable with hands-on Reiki or would prefer no touch. Rest assured, sensitive and private areas are always avoided.
  3. Session Flow
    The session typically begins with the Practitioner placing their hands on or above your head and then moving systematically down your body to your feet. Throughout, the Practitioner will work intuitively to support the flow of energy.
  4. Quiet and Relaxation
    While the Practitioner may check in with you occasionally to ensure your comfort, talking is generally kept to a minimum to allow you to fully relax and switch off.
  5. Sensing the Energy
    You may feel warmth, tingling, or other sensations as the Practitioner works, even if their hands are not directly touching you. This is your body responding to the flow of energy during the session.

  • Involuntary Movements: Mild spasms or small twitches in the body can occur as energy shifts.
  • Deep Relaxation: It’s not uncommon to feel so relaxed that you drift off to sleep.
  • Tingling or Pins and Needles: A gentle tingling sensation might be felt at the Practitioner’s hand placements.
  • Emotional Release: Some clients may experience unexpected emotions, such as crying.
  • Physical Sensations: Itchiness or a rumbling stomach are also normal responses.
  • Memory Flashes: Random memories might come to mind during the session.

    The Practitioner will check in with you to gather your feedback and discuss how you felt during the session. They will also guide you on booking follow-up sessions if you wish to continue your Reiki journey.
  2. Time to Recenter
    After the session, you’ll likely feel deeply relaxed. The Practitioner will give you some time and space to return to full awareness before you leave. Drinking a glass of water afterward is an excellent way to ground yourself and reorient to the present moment.
  3. Holistic Benefits, Not a "Fix"
    It’s important to understand that the goal of Reiki is not to "cure" or "fix" a specific issue, even if that is what brought you to the session. Reiki works holistically—addressing the mind, body, and spirit to restore energetic balance, which can in turn promote health and well-being.
